When the ocean rises over The bluestones piled up along the shore Will you be there holding my hand When The Esplanade takes its curtain call? When the bushfires reach Altona And mangos grow by our front door Will you stare back at me in fear and wonder As the life that we knew becomes no more? Will you stay with me til the end of the world? Cos there's no-one I'd rather be scared with Be there with me When the bees have all departed And the flowers bloom no more Will you help me to remember All the beautiful things that we once saw? Will you stay with me til the end of the world? Cos there's no-one I'd rather be scared with Be there with me things are changing Stay with me, til the end of the world Cos there's no-one I'd rather be scared with Be there with me © Dean Lombard 2016

Give a little, take some more With your shackles on my heart, and your foot in the door Cry a little, scream some more I've never been down here before In the water, off the land I don't know how to swim, and I don't understand Give no quarter, show your hand I never quite know where to stand; I never did know how to land There's no mystery: how could you get it so wrong? There's a history: and it's carved in every face And sung in every song, in every song At The Bender, and 303 Sometimes you get a stamp, and other times it's free Just remember, it's not me I'm not who I appear to be; I never said that I was he © Dean Lombard 2008

There may be no rest for the wicked But there is for those who stand by and do nothing And there’s restless dreams for the ones that seem To pay the price for everyone else to feel OK How do they sleep? I wish I could go to sleep Don’t wake me: I plan on sleeping in There may be no rest for the wicked But a fevered dream might be just what it seems And when you wake in fright from a sleepless night Knowing nothing will ever be the same How do they sleep? I wish I could go to sleep Don’t wake me: I plan on sleeping in All it takes is doing nothing This is the garden we’ve grown So wake up, stand up, wake up, stand up How do they sleep? I wish I could go to sleep Don’t wake me: I plan on sleeping in © Dean Lombard 2018

Everything is falling down Everyone is walking round Everything has gone away Everything has changed The eyes are everywhere Frightened neighbours, bold crusaders Cops with clubs and guns and tasers Parliament has closed right down Anocracy’s the new game in town But don’t panic The pathogen is everywhere It’s on the doorknob, on the table Underfoot and in the air Keep your distance, stay away from friends and strangers Don’t resist us, you don’t understand the danger But don’t panic © Dean Lombard 2020

We are the lucky ones, We are the lucky ones, We are the luckiest ones (x2) We are the lucky ones The children of the children of the houses that the bombs missed every time The children of the drivers who were getting sleepy… but never crossed the line We are the lucky ones, We are the lucky ones, We are the luckiest ones (x2) We are the lucky ones The children of the guys who got a sweet young girl to gaze into their eyes The children of the girls who took a gamble with a young guy and had a living child We are the luckiest ones Every virus known to humankind, and then some Floating in the very air we breathe, breathe it in We know how manycigarettes it takes to kill you Only one! But we never know which one; oh I never smoked that one We are the luckiest ones We are the lucky ones, We are the lucky ones, We are the luckiest ones (x2) We are the lucky ones The ones whose parents parents left their war-torn homes to find a better life Who dodged tuberculosis flu and polio and somehow kept at least one kid alive We are the luckiest ones We are the luckiest ones We are the lucky, we are the lucky we are the lucky ones © Dean Lombard 2014

Look at the time Every day it’s looking a bit less further away Look at the signs Look at the way that everybody’s looking away And I gazed into the night sky But I simply couldn’t see Another home for you and me Look on the hill There was a light but somehow, somewhere, it just died And they're in there still Looking inside and saying that everything's alright As I gaze into the night sky But I simply cannot see Another home for you and me There's nothing out there that I can see Beyond the mountains, across the sea Out past the atmosphere and on into the galaxy 1.1 degrees since 1893 500 species since 1914 Half a billion acres since 1983 Everything is changing  And I can’t see no Planet B Look in the eyes of a child And tell them you did what you could do But only if it’s true © Dean Lombard 2020

I remember walking up that wooden staircase Wondering what I'd find But I can't remember what living was like Before that day, the day I found you It was so easy to forget And I remember waking on a sunny morning Wondering what I'd found But I can't remember what I did For the rest of that day, the day I found you It was so easy to forget Like the journey home with the Golden Ticket Like the shadow of the warmest sun I thought I'd seen everything, and there was nothing new I thought I'd loved everyone I could love Oh I remember driving through the desert Wondering what I'd got myself into And I can't remember anything bad about  Six days driving in the heat in an old car It was so easy to be with you, Like being at a beautiful place It's so easy to be with you, Like coming home from some journey Like finding a place for my soul Oh I remember wondering when I'd wake up From the most beautiful dream And I can't remember any other time When I was walking on air with my feet on the ground It’s so beautiful to be with you Like listening to my favourite music Yeah it's so beautiful to be with with you Like finding a sweet melody Like discovering a brand new song Yeah it's so beautiful to be with you And it's so peaceful it's so perfect to be with you And it's so easy, yeah it's so easy I remember walking up that wooden staircase Wondering what I'd find

about

I'm recording my next album, one instrument at a time, in my home studio. These are the demos of some of the songs that are being considered for it. Some are more polished than others, some of the singing and playing is a bit rough. This is a little peek inside the sausage factory, careful where you step.
