about

This is a set of unfinished home recordings for an album that was never made. They were recorded while I was on long service leave in the winter of 2010, and I was really finding my way as a home recording artist, figuring out everything from how to make interesting arrangements and what order to record one instrument at a time in, to how to place microphones and edit and mix the recorded tracks. Though unfinished, they're way more than demos: they're really only missing the drums, and while the vocals were intended only as guide vocals, I think they have a certain something that makes them keepers.
Poster Boy and Simple Song ended up being remixed and included on the Bridesmaids EP. Fly Away is having drums and a few other things added to it for inclusion on Songs From the End of the World; and Sleep All Day was re-recorded with my band The Phosphenes and ended up on our 2018 album Finally a Friendly Shore. the rest? who knows. For now they are here.

Everything by Dean Lombard.

These songs were written and this album was made on the stolen land of the Kulin Nation, where I and my people live and work without their consent. I acknowledge and pay my respects to the traditional custodians of the land and their Elders, past and present; and look forward to a true and just reconciliation between our peoples.
